Nuclear Medicine Technology
The Nuclear Medicine Technology program within the Department of Radiologic Sciences offers a master of science degree to prepare graduates for career advancement within the ever-growing and competitive health care industry.
Nuclear medicine is one of the fastest growing allied health professions due to the development of new radioactive compounds for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Promising research and the development of cancer-detecting agents and imaging technology such as positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) have also aided in the advancement of this allied health profession.
Career opportunities range from positions as staff technologists to supervisory posts. Other positions are available in specialty areas such as research technologists, PET/CT technologists and educators.
About our program
This exciting 12-month master's program provides students with vital competency skills and experience for employment as entry-level nuclear medicine technologists.
Students who satisfactorily complete all program requirements will be awarded the Master of Science in Nuclear Medicine Technology from the University of Mississippi and will be eligible to take the examinations for certifications offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
